Do you have what it takes?
Let’s see if you’re ready join the elite ranks of those who have partnered with me to grow their businesses…
Take this simple test:
1 – You Have Goals
Everyone who has ever taken a family trip with a child has heard the question “Are We There Yet?”. In your business you are the driver. You should never have to answer “I don’t know.” If you don’t know what you want, and have no idea where you want to go, then you’ll have no idea if you got there when you get there. If you don’t have clearly set goals, or are not prepared to work with me to set them, please don’t waste your time or mine. Harsh? Maybe. But I’m not here to waste anyone’s time or money.
2 – You Have An Audience
In 1989 there was a movie called “Field of Dreams”. There is a famous quote from it, “If you Build it, He will come.” Unfortunately, the Internet doesn’t work that way. There is no point in publishing a website if nobody cares what you’re doing. If you don’t already have an audience you should be prepared to build one. If you’re not, then again, please don’t waste your time or mine.
3 – You Have Passion
Years ago I was at a seminar and the speaker was doing his best to fire up the crowd. He was pushing “You Gotta Get Excited!”. Well, you do. Building an audience online is hard work and it takes time. Passion is the fuel you need to keep going when all the chips are down and you feel like you’re smashing your head against a brick wall. Excitement is what you feel when you break on through that brick wall and look with anticipation at the next challenge to overcome. If you’re not passionate about what you do, if you can’t get excited, please step aside and watch the rest of us change the world.
4 – You Have A Team
None of us really do it all on our own. Successful people have a support system in place to help them on their journey. I don’t enjoy watching my clients implode so if you don’t have a team (or you’re not prepared to build one) you’ll have a big job convincing me to take your project on. It could be as simple as an assistant to help out a few hours a week or a fully-fledged content production team, either way you’re going to need help. If you’re intent on doing it all on your own, that’s fine, but I work with teams.
5 – You Have A Budget
There’s an old saying, “It takes money to make money”. I’ve rarely found that to be wrong. If you really want to knock one out of the park, you’re going to need to invest some cash. That’s just the way it is. I don’t work for equity in your start-up, I have no need for a couple cases of ‘free’ product and I don’t cut corners. Mike Holmes motto is “Make it Right”. Mine is “Do it Right”. You don’t need to sell a kidney or re-mortgage your house but you are going to need to treat this as an investment and if you do everything I tell you, you’ll get a positive return on it.
If you’ve answered YES to all 5, then we might be a good fit to work together. If any of those were no’s, then I’m not the guy you want to work with. Neither of us will be happy, and life’s too short to not be happy.
